THE RARE OPPORTUNITY comes along of running your own business like the Mount Molloy National Hotel (leasehold). The hotel has a live in residence with 9 upstairs guest rooms that open on to the wide verandah with views over the town. A beer garden, pool room, covered verandah compliment the main bar. Mount Molloy is the RV friendly town at the intersection to the Cape ; half way between Mareeba and the coastal towns of Mossman / Port Douglas. The most famous historical proprietor of the hotel back at the turn of the last century was the explorer and prospector James Mulligan who was behind the opening up of the Palmer River gold fields. Mount Molloy itself was a copper mining town and Wolframite and Scheelite for Tungsten is currently being mined at Mt Carbine just 30 klm north of the town on the road to Cooktown. Set on just under an acre on the main street in the middle of town , there is guest off street parking at the rear of the hotel as well as a 4 bay open shed. The Molloy Pub is the local term for the hotel and with its family friendly orientation it is a popular lunch stop for day travellers.
